About our Kusina

Welcome to our Kusina!

Welcome to our kitchen! Here At Kusina Cooks, my goal is to strip away the intimidation that often comes with complex recipes. I aim to give you the best of what I’ve learned through years of hands-on experience. Whether it’s a deep-dive into beloved Filipino heritage dishes or exploring modern international flavors, every recipe you find here has been forged through my own trial and error on the stove and the chopping board.

Every day, people need to eat, and it’s the one constant we all share. I’ve always loved meeting that demand in a professional restaurant. However, I realized the people closest to us at home deserve that same level of “best,” if not more. Life gets messy; I’m a dad, a husband, a chef, and a businessman. I know exactly what it’s like to stare at a fridge while a busy schedule tries to dictate your dinner.

Why I Love to Cook

Everyday people need to eat, and I love to meet that demand just like in a professional restaurant. The people close to us deserve the best. As a dad, a husband, a chef, and a businessman, a busy schedule does not mean sacrificing quality. Learning to cook does not have to be done professionally; it just needs heart, the right heat, the right technique, and the right kusina (Filipino for kitchen) to create something that shows you care.

I’ve worn a lot of hats as a professional chef, home cook, and “Dad-in-chief”. At my core, I’m someone who believes food should never feel intimidating. I’ve spent years burning things, over-salting, and experimenting so you don’t have to.

I’ve spent years learning how to cook, testing recipes, and discovering the easiest ways to make the best dish. Join me in my journey to discover “how to live and find simple beauty in food in our own kusina.” My journey has focused on stripping away the fluff to find the most delicious way to get a dish on the table.

How Technology helps me in the Kitchen

This site exists because cooking shouldn’t feel overwhelming. There are too many complicated recipes online, too many steps that don’t matter, and too many people pretending everything needs to be perfect. This makes cooking daunting rather than welcoming. Here on our site, we use technology like AI to make recipes a weekly and hopefully someday a daily endeavor.

Let’s be honest: the internet is drowning in over-complicated recipes with fifty steps that don’t actually matter. It makes cooking feel like a daunting chore rather than a welcoming part of your day. That’s why I use technology, and learning AI helps streamline the “data” part of cooking so I can focus on the flavor.

Kusina Cooks is about making food you’ll actually want to make again with a simple process, clean ingredients, and results that feel worth it. Tried and Tested, Family Loved and Kid Approved!
This is the kind of cooking that fits real life.

“Let’s make delicious meals, memorable moments and a future worth remembering.
For the first time in history, we have limitless potential alongside Artificial Intelligence
Let’s Cook, Build and Dream, one recipe at a time.”

What to Expect from our Kusina

I’m not here to give you recipes that only look good in photos but have actually failed in a real kitchen.
My process is simple: Trial, Error, and Family Approval because before a dish makes it onto this site, it has to pass through my test kitchen
to ensure the steps are actually doable to make sure you don’t waste a second in your own Kusina.
In our Kusina, we focus on:

  • The “Why” Behind the Flavor: I’ll explain why we sear the meat or soak the beans or even just lola’s kusina logic of cooking, not just a list of steps.
  • Practical Heritage: We’re keeping Filipino traditions alive but adapting them for modern, busy lives without losing the soul of the dish.
  • Zero-Fluff Guides: No 50-step instructions that don’t matter. Just what you need, how to do it and make sure masaya (happy) the family and peaceful yung Kusina
